We are completely volunteer and non-profit, yet highly competitive. We train Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for two hours, and compete on the weekends in various tournaments and shootouts. We are seeking some TEAM FIRST, HARD WORKING players that are opened to being challenged on a daily basis. Players must be disciplined and focused. We push our players to be versatile. Defense comes first on our team! We hit dribbling, shooting and offensive moves hard on a daily basis.

We are currently looking to expand and make a second team. We are looking for U-11 boys to ad to a nice core for our elite team. Contact us, and get yourself out to a practice or two, and we can see how the chemistry is!

Coach Parker
Pistolparker@gmail.com

Womens Forum : Incoming Freshmen Basketball Tryouts Guide

    Author: Pantheresk
Subject: Incoming Freshmen Basketball Tryouts Guide
Posted: 01 May 2012 at 9:56am

Guide for Incoming Freshmen Basketball Tryouts:

    • First and foremost grades are always the most important thing, without good grades sports don't mean much. (There is a reason that the word STUDENT comes first in student/athletes)
    • Show up to the try-outs early, already warmed up and stretched and ready to go.
    • Introduce yourself to the coaches, don't be shy.
    • Each high school runs a basketball camp either right before or right after tryouts be part of it. It's another way for the coaches to get to know you and see you play.
    • Wear your club/travel team shorts (if applicable) to your tryouts, coaches like players who have played club ball because it means that they have been taught plays, defensive schemes, team principles to name a few.
    • Since these are tryouts it is important that players show their strengths, go all out and show the coaches your abilities and don't hold back. Show them your individual play and your team play. Since these are tryouts you want to show them what you can do first and foremost. When you scrimmage also show them how you play in a team enviorment. You have spent countless hours doing many different types of basketball drills, you are ready!
    • Most schools will have summer tryouts and then also additional tryouts in the fall. Break it down into an action plan with simple steps, and it’s easy. Read on to learn how to set up a spring visit.

1. You’ve been researching schools that you’re interested in and you’re a good athletic and academic fit for – right? If you haven’t, and you are serious about playing college athletics, do it by the end of the day. This is absolutely crucial whether you’re planning a spring visit or not. All the other steps won’t do much good unless you’ve done this. Check recruiting guidelines for your sport here and make sure your GPA and test scores are at least close to what the school typically looks for.

2. Make sure any schools you want to visit have need at your position for your grad year. If you’re an NCSA Verified Athlete, check our coach requests to see what they’re looking for – you might see something like, “looking for women’s 400m runners with 3.0 GPA or better for 2014,” or “5’ 10”+ 1B wanted for 2013.” In your RMS, you’ll be able to see all the requests from coaches at schools where you’re a good fit. If you’re not a verified, you can look at rosters for schools you are interested in and see if players in your position or event

3. Decide if your visit will be official or unofficial. Most visits will be unofficial – the only athletes taking official visits will be seniors who already have serious interest from coaches at schools they want to attend.

4. Select the schools where you want to visit and reach out to the coaches there. Tell them you are interested in their program and ask if they would like to see your highlight video. If you’re a good fit, seeing you play will spark their interest right away. If you’re not a good fit, better for the coach to find out right away. That way, neither of you spends time on recruitment for a school that is not a good choice for you.

5. If the coach is interested in you, tell them that you would like to set up an unofficial game day visit (or, for some well-positioned seniors, an official visit). Even on an unofficial visit, the school can give you tickets to a sporting event – you’ll want tickets to your sport, so you can get a feel for the team and have a better chance at face time with the coaching staff.

6. If the coach okays the visit, make sure to schedule it wisely – for spring break, a weekend, or some other way that fits around your practice and games. You don’t want to miss practice or a game for a recruiting visit – it sends the wrong message to a college coach if you are bailing on your team to visit them.

Once it’s scheduled, all that’s left to do is go – remember to budget for travel and meals if the visit is unofficial.

Get Recruited and Scouted!

Recruiting : 3 Recruiting Reality Checks

For some, so has the Division I Delusion.

What does that mean to you? And what is the Division I Delusion?

If you’re an unsigned senior football player, it means you will not be signing with a Division I/II school (football players – click here to learn about recruiting in Division III and NAIA, who may still have space available for you).

Different sports’ signing periods end at different times. However – just because your sport’s signing period hasn’t ended, or because you’re not a senior, doesn’t mean that this doesn’t affect you. Just the opposite: it’s the athletes who can still sign that have the most to gain.

Division I is the level we hear the most about, and it seems like the “best” level you can play in. It’s tempting to keep telling yourself that a DI offer is “just around the corner.” Guaranteed some football players with that mentality are very disappointed right now. The last thing you want to do is coast on high hopes until it’s too late to turn your recruiting situation around. The Division I Delusion is when you think you’re going to Division I even when there’s no evidence that you will.

So – are you DI material or not? Here’s 3 reality checks:

1. Most major Division I prospects get offers by the end of their junior year
So seniors, no matter what sport you play – if you’re not sitting on a DI offer, it’s time to move on. Right now, today. Juniors – get your name out there as much as you can, but you don’t have as long as you think. Freshman and sophomores – you are in a good place to position yourself to hopefully get that DI offer, but even if you are getting a lot of interest from DI, reach out to all divisions. It may be a good bargaining chip with DI programs, and if it turns out you’re not as in demand as you may have thought, you won’t be left with nothing.

2. You don’t need to wonder if coaches are interested in you
If you are on coaches radar and they want to recruit you, you will start receiving written correspondence and seeing college coaches at your games/meets freshman year (in most sports). If that’s not happening, it is because your recruiting level is light-to-none. This doesn’t mean you’re a bad athlete, but it does mean you may need to get realistic and proactive about recruiting.

3. Read the signs
The number one sign of a coach’s interest should be no surprise: a full scholarship offer, in writing. After that, a verbal full scholarship offer, a partial offer in writing, and then a partial verbal offer are the best indicators. The biggest sign of interest shy of a scholarship offer is an offer to take an official visit, and after that are personal phone calls and letters from a coach (assistant is good, head coach is better; typed is good, handwritten is better). Other signs of interests include an athletic application with a fee waiver, an invitation to an unofficial visit or summer camp, request for a highlight video, or questionnaire. But no matter what kind of attention you’re getting, remember – until you sign on that dotted line, everything is just practice.

Today marked the end of the Divsion I Delusion for some players – hopefully most of them will find a place at some of the excellent schools outside of Division I. And for those who haven’t reached crunch time yet – work your behind off, and expect the best, but prepare for the worst. Pursue the school of your dreams in Division I – but write those letters to the DII and DIII coaches, too.

Get Recruited and Scouted!

Edited by iamadminballer7 - 18 Apr 2012 at 3:16pm
